Healing sound

I love this. Ra Ma Da Sa healing mantra by the amazing Snatam Kaur. If a voice can make good to your soul, this is it.

Autumn's sweet. And sour!

It's autumn. A friend asked again what's on my agenda for the day. I keep saying the same thing: berry-picking! Also made a lovely creamy soup of the chanterelles my dad had found.

***
I have said this, too, already but let's repeat: I have a thing for beautifully illustrated books! This one is one of my new loves, a book called La princesa Noche Resplandeciente.
Philip Giordano won the International Award for Illustration at the Bologna Children's Book Fair in 2010 with this work. The story is based on an old Japanese legend. It's such a stunning book! I got my copy from Spain in July and although I sent some other books home after I had finished reading them, this one I carried along for over a month: I didn't want to take the risk of loosing it and somehow I figured out it would propably get less damaged in my dirty backpack than in the mail.

I found online the video below about Mr. Giordano working and well, oh well.. Nothing to add, just admire.

If you only got time for 3: Grafikas Workshop

Graphics Art Workshop ''Grafikas'' on Keleju Iela with lovely Ieva! You get to do a design of your own and three prints of it. I'll show you mine soon! I was overly excited about this and we had so much fun. It only takes an hour or so, depends how fast you draw (I think we took hour and a half in total), and you can pick your ready work on the following day. Warmly recommended!/ Kaleju Ielan taidepaja ihanan Ievan luona!

Wonderful things are passing you by

Shaun Tan is one of my favorite illustrators out there.  Here's a version of The red tree, I still like it better as a book but this video I found is quite sweet, too. If you look carefully at 3:12, the language there ain't gibberish but actually Finnish.

Shaun Tan on yksi suosikki kuvittajistani. Hänen kirjansa ovat valloittavia, muttei tämä löytämäni video-versio kirjasta The red tree ole myöskään hullumpi. Hänen töitään ei ole taidettu suomentaa ollenkaan? Katso kuitenkin tarkkaan kohdan 3:12 paikkeilla, voit bongata tutun tuntuisia sanoja.

(Edit: Tuli vähän väkisin väännetyn oloinen versio suomeksi, huh huh, no kai sen pystyy lukemaan..)

Cute and quirky

This week I've been listening to the cute but quirky tunes by Olivia Ruiz. Or what do you think about a woman who has hot chocolate running in her vains or about a florist who tries to lure you with mushroom-crepes and promises not to touch the knife anymore? Okay maybe almost more of the quirky bit then, but in a cute way.

This Saturday turned out gray but with a friend we drove to a small town near by. I haven't been there for some 20 years, silly me, it's a town with character and friendly people.

For your inspiration. I like these very much indeed. Also, wouldn't mind another head today. Mine is aching. / Inspiraatioksi. Tykkään näistä tosi paljon. Minä voisin myös kaivata vaihtopäätä tänään. Omani on ihan särki.
