Dreaming of summer

Once upon a time in Italy.

Funny I'm missing the sea side, me, the girl who grew up by a river. I could take teletransport through time and space to that lovely day spent along the coast.

My memorycards ran out of space that day. We had an amazing apero and virgin strawberry mojitos. We had a windy boat ride, swim in the softly floating sea and a sunbathing session. I must have had a good book, too. I also had a big smile on the backseat of the car once we were driving back to Genova again. Italian summer. Not too bad at all.

Where are you, summer holiday?

Haastettu

Minut on haastanut yksi nuori neitokainen, ja koska Noora on niin söde, niin tottahan toki tartun haasteeseen!

Tehtävänä on kirjoittaa seitsemän faktaa itsestään.

Here we go:

1. Tykkään kirjoista. Parasta on kirjojen järjestäminen kirjahyllyyn!

2. Menin ensimmäiselle tanssitunnille ekaluokkalaisena. Olen tanssinut jazz-tanssia, klassista balettia, modernia ja street & hiphopia vuosien varrella.

3. Olin seitsemän vuotta syömättä karkkia ja kaksi ilman alkoholia.

4. Aloitin laskettelun kolmevuotiaana, kahdentoista vanhana vaihdoin lumilautaan ja nykyään lasken telluilla. Tunnustettava, että olen viimeaikoina pohtinut vaihtoa takaisin alppisuksiin, sillä voisihan sitä elämänsä helpommaksikin tehdä..

5. Minusta olisi kivaa jos olisi oma koti.

6. En suuremmin välitä pizzasta enkä elokuvien katselusta. Ja olen älyttömän huono imuroimaan!

7. Aloitin joogan kolme vuotta sitten. Se on ollut ehkä paras juttu, jonka olen tehnyt.

Tehtävänä oli myös haastaa hirmuinen liuta muita, mutta minen haastele -tarttukaa vaan vapaasti toimeen jos haastetuttaa!

Much love,
m

Curiouser and curiouser

Also, something really strange happened to me in Milan. I got locked in to a second-hand shop. I got little anxious there and tried to call the numbers on their visitors card I managed to find from the shop. The cell number just kept ringing and the land-line -well, needless to say, I would have been the only person available to answear to the demanding noise by the till.

I didn't have time to totally freak out though. I was released after about fifteen minutes in the middle of old vinyl-players and a gigantic spiderman figure. But boy it felt long, I already started checking ideal spots for a nap and pondering what sort of sign language I could try out if other passer-bys saw me in and wanted to enter the shop, possibly thinking I was actually working instead of being a prisoner.

Milano-times!

Milano-times! I avoided every single tourist attraction but browsed the little boutiques, stayed in a superb backpackers with a little backyard and a balcony (perfectly suited for yoga) and red my books at funky coffee shops. I enjoyed being on my own again and, on the other hand, met some amazing people. I filled myself with great food from overwhelming aperitivo-tables and had couple of virgin aka. non-alcoholic mojitos whilst enjoying of the balmy summer nights on some of those terasses by the little canal with some other travellers -she had the most beautiful british accent I've ever heard, he was cracking funny and oh-so-stylish.

I was getting all inspired and managed to even shop some cool little things, my preferred shopping being yet another book (and how I had thought I'd be safe in Italy with the books as I don't speak the language..).

Milan was simply great. Really enjoyed it. Feeling an urge to go back.

Re-visit

I missed my train so went back to Torino for a re-visit. Big thanks to my dearies for having me again!

The capital of pesto

Genova gave me a lot of photos, a dress with polka-dots and tons of delicious pesto. The old town was perfect: big enough to get intentionally lost but still small and cosy. It was mysterious and spooky but in a comforting way and also full of interesting details.

Just more photos

It made me photograph and it was fun.

Sweet

Life's sweet when you stop for an aperetivo right here.

Seaside magic

Seaside magic. A boat trip to somewhere in the middle of the greenest hills and sweetest sea. As I was floating in the water, watching the hilly view around, I thought I'd die of jealousy had I been anywhere else at that very moment.

Big smiles

My other lovelies live in Genova. And Genova is just too cool! I stayed over at their house forever. And longer. I'm praying I wasn't too annoying a guest.

We went to uni with her and he's yet anotherone who's born on the same day with me -not the same year this time, though.

Eataly indeed

They've been living there for four years already -finally got the chance to go! I think Torino wasn't as bad as it's reputations, it was historical and rather nice. But the people in there.. I was shouted at before I even did anything!

We went to a smaller village to visit my friend's in-laws. Name of the game: Sunday lunch. What a treat! Proper Italian meal with a proper Italian family! And my friend herself -she's a goddess in the kitchen, too. I got fed like a little piggy.
